Holly Hunter was an American actor who was famous for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano won her an Oscar. The path to acting began on Broadway through a myriad of Broadway as well as Off Broadway initiatives. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Her mumps left her blind and deaf in the one ear. However, she didn't let this to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actor. As a young woman she was a drama student in the college level and then moved into New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could pursue her ambitions. Hunter was stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. Her first role in film came after she relocated from Los Angeles. Her career spans more than 30 years and she's appeared in numerous TV shows or series, as well as films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
